On Sunday 26th March 2023 Vintage Trains operated the second out-of-season “Shakespeare Express” on the usual route; out, tender first, via Henley-in-Arden and return, chimney first, on the main line via Dorridge. On this occasion motive power was provided by BR double chimney Castle Class 7P 4-6-0 5043 EARL OF MOUNT EDGCUMBE. The locomotive and train looked splendid, the train ran to time on both trips and the weather managed to stay fine, just! It is nice to see these trains running at unusual times of year and it is to be hoped that they will prove viable commercially and become a regular feature in future years.
