Collett 2884 Class 2-8-0 3802 was hauling the 15:15 service from Loughborough to Leicester North past Rushey Fields Farm on Thursday 30th September 2021. It was a pleasure to welcome this example of the standard GWR heavy freight design with a history that goes back to 1903 and the design influenced all subsequent successful heavy freight locomotive constructed for Britain's Railways. How could the Science Museum dismiss classmate 2818 as not of sufficient importance to justify preservation in our NRM.
