I was looking forward to the weekend of 19th – 21st August 2022 as there seemed to be some reasonable activity close to home. Friday featured one of the GCR Diesel Running Days with D6700 which gave the first opportunities for me to take some photographs with the engine running solo on a train. This turned out to be a false hope when my brother-in-law arrived at home just as I was preparing to leave. Predictably the rostered diesel for Saturday 20th was D6700 so that, combined with 48305, 78018 and the green 3-car DMU, promised some potentially interesting photography. So it turned out and despite having to collect the daily paper which was late and missing two or three shots due to cutting grass and trimming hedges I had an enjoyable day alongside the GCR. Sunday’s intended visit to see “The Shakespeare Express” was abandoned when the evil BMW failed to start with a flat battery on Saturday evening. I really do hate that thing; it is the most expensive car I have ever bought and, by a very long way, the most unreliable!
