The post Christmas daylight timetable on the GCR was based entirely around two train sets, each making three round trips. There was still 'Winter Wonderlights' until and including 30th December which required the steam locomotive and coaching stock to carry the lighting equipment. Thus it had to be 73156 which had worked all the "Santa Express" trains as well as the 'Winter Wonderlights' and the chosen DMU was that carrying the blue livery with the suburban centre car. It wasn't an ambitious programme but the GCR were to be congratulated for maintaining the service when many other railways cancelled theirs.
