When talking to one couple I met while photographing on Woodthorpe bridge I said that I thought we should consider ourselves lucky to have a service at all on the GCR during the Winter months of January, February and March. Although the motive power was selected from the smallest examples that were in serviceable condition, the trains ran to time and entertained the passengers and diners availing themselves of the service.
