1Z25, the 06:12 from Ealing Broadway to York, promoted by 'The Railway Touring Company' was scheduled to run from London to Barrow Hill hauled by 6233 DUCHESS OF SUTHERLAND. When the train passed Ratcliffe-on-Soar it was 78 min late and hauled by a WCRC diesel electric. The only thing I can think that the two locomotives have in common is that they are both red! Why the Duchess was replaced at Humberstone Road, Leicester is at present unexplained. There are strange stories on the internet about the change being planned beforehand but they are all inconsistent. Let's just say for some unknown reason 'they' spoiled the day. All I could do was head to the GCR at Loughborough and hope for the best!
