The Class 88 electro-diesel locomotive is conceptually brilliant but almost unbelievably ugly. 88 007 ELECTRA was hauling the 460Z container service from Tilbury to Coatbridge on Saturday 29th January 2022. The presence of so many empty vehicles at the front of the train does make one wonder about the credibility of the much publicised economic revival.
