After my fruitless journey to Leicester I returned to Quorn with the intention of seeing the arrival of the ECS that would load to form the 11:00 departure. No sooner had I got out of my car than I heard the train entering the up platform. I went straight to the fence by the signal box to photograph the departure. It was only then I observed a steam locomotive that was already attached at the back of the train for the return run from Leicester North. Modified Hall 4-6-0 6990 WITHERSLACK HALL made a sure footed departure from Quorn with steam visible from the assisting locomotive at the back.
