On Saturday 8th April 2023 Saphos Trains promoted an excursion from Norwich to Worcester and return that was to be steam hauled both ways between Hanwell and Worcester. The locomotive was not advertised but, by a process of elimination, we expected to see 61306 which carries the name MAYFLOWER sometimes. For whatever reason, delays began while the train was in Hanwell and any attempt to regain time was thwarted as it was running ‘out of path’. Eventually the train reached Worcester almost an hour late. The late running and numerous road traffic delays caused a complete change of plans and I was able only to photograph this train as it approached Standish Junction.
