The most striking feature of this photograph of the shadow side of LMS 45050, DYNAMOMETER CAR No.1, was the apparent colour change! That was due only to the warmth of direct sunlight compared to the cold effect of the shadows. This photograph shows better the observation windows head of the ‘birdcage roof section’ and the conventional Bo-Bo wheel arrangement on this side.
