Saturday 23rd April 2022 seemed to offer the best combination of trains and weather for The Severn Valley Railway’s Spring Steam Gala. From my perspective, it was a good entertaining programme with a wide variety of appropriate motive power that avoided the use of TAW VALLEY in the offensive purple livery. We spent the morning period at Northwood Halt and after lunch saw two trains pass over Falling Sands Viaduct; both hauled by locomotives running chimney first. The rest of the afternoon was taken up travelling to Eardington where we were able to see three trains pass before we had to head for home. It was a good and enjoyable day with lots of variety.
